With man as with animals, communication by sound plays an essential part in our capacity to share information at a distance and react in a suitable and concerted manner.
The loss or deterioration of this essential sensory function has dramatic consequences for our mental and social lives.
The “Cognition and auditory communication” research team headed by Luc Arnal and Diane Lazard seeks a better understanding of how the brain operates when processing complex communication signals–whether verbal, non-verbal or musical – and how it triggers appropriate behavioral responses.
