How to optimize the workings of a cochlear implant and hearing aid in a user with hearing loss

Project status: closed

A number of people with hearing loss wear a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. Jeanne Clarke is studying the interactions between these two devices in order to improve how they work together.

Dr. Clarke’s project, supervised by Professor Olivier Macherey, aims to study if and how the two types of information (electric and acoustic) coming from the cochlear implant and the hearing aid blend together, and whether this fusion has a positive influence on the understanding of speech.

This research work allows those with hearing loss who wear both a cochlear implant and a hearing aid to better regulate their devices and optimize how they work together.
